Ultra White Collar Boxing- Working together for a great cause

White collar boxing is something that has become more and more popular in recent years, with boxing fans and corporate workers keen to lace up a pair of gloves and test themselves, like many of their boxing heroes.

Ultra White Collar Boxing is the UK’s most established white collar organisation, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year and we are delighted to be in partnership with them.

Events organised by UWCB have raised in excess of £14m for Cancer Research UK since the company was set up. The amazing amount of money raised so far has made a real difference to the work being carried out by the charity. Over 40000 people (male and female) have taken part in their events, which are held in over 100 locations across the UK. Participants sign up and gain access to their own Just Giving page to collect donations and also receive a free 8 week training course (working on technique and strength and conditioning) in order to prepare them for their respective fights. Nutritional advice is also available via their website, for all those taking part. The aim is to not only raise money but to help people change their lives, improving their overall health and wellbeing.

UWCB Events

We went down to a recent event held in Liverpool and were massively impressed with the set up and the event as a whole, with the famous Liverpool Olympia a perfect setting. Each event is a very formal affair, with those sitting ringside able to enjoy a meal whilst cheering on their nearest and dearest. The atmosphere was terrific throughout and it’s understandable to see why so many enjoy taking part and testing themselves in the most testing of sports.

Sitting there watching, you could feel the nerves as participants conducted their own ring walk (with their own choice of music), following in the footsteps of so many before them. The fights are conducted over 3x 2minute rounds, with the referee determining the winner in most cases. With the popularity of women’s boxing increasing rapidly, thanks in part to the ongoing success of Katie Taylor and Nicola Adams, it was no surprise to see so many women on the card that night. It was great to see a couple of boxers also wearing SW boxing shorts on the night and dazzling under the lights.

Speaking to a participant who fought on the show (their second time to date), they highlighted the professional nature of the event and how it helped them to improve their fitness levels as well bringing some discipline to their training throughout the 8 weeks. Once you take part in your first show, it clearly gives you the white collar boxing bug.
