James Degale vs Truax II Boxing Shorts

James Degale vs Truax II

It’s redemption time for James Degale when he takes on Truax again this time in Las Vegas on the undercard of Lara Hurd.

James Degale fought Truax in December 2017 defending his IBF World Title in London at the Copper Box. He lost the fight and the re-match clause has been auctioned.  James now bids to become two-time world champion.

Custom Boxing Shorts

Suzi Wong have been working with Team Chunky since he turned professional after winning Gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

We have made over 25 custom pairs of shorts for James and it’s always a pleasure to work with him and the Chunky team.

Some of James previous designs can be seen in our Boxing Kit Portfolio.

The Design Process

We usually start off with a colour James feel’s he wants to wear and make suggestions around this. Usually matching the boxing boots he will wear in the ring.

James has traditionally always wanted gold incorporated into the boxing short design, to represent the Gold he won at the Olympics.

His traditional colours of black and gold have been changed over the years to incorporate colours such as red, grey, purple and more.

For this fight we felt going back to the old school was the way forward.

We went for a subtle but classy design to suit James boxing style.

The Boxing Trunk Fabrics

We considered the last fight going 12 rounds and wanted something light weight, that didn’t absorb water too much.

We went for a lightweight faux black leather for the main body then added in a crocodile panel, luxury gold stitching and leather name for the waistband.

We embroidered all the shorts in gold thread, the traditional Union Jack always present on James Degale’s shorts in honour of the MBE he received from the Queen in recognition of his Olympic achievements.

We also embroidered his beloved Arsenal badge, he is a big football and Arsenal FC fan and is often seen at the football matches. Along also with his skull design logo on the leg.

The Boxing Shorts

Overall we wanted the shorts to represent James in a classy, but understated manner.

This is the fight for all James Degale’s skills to show and nothing else matters. Redemption is on the cards this evening as James vows to win the IBF title back.
