The weekend that was – USYK Manchester Recap
Farewell to a Champion: Tony Bellew’s Final Fight
Last Saturday, the British boxing public bid farewell to a true warrior — our long-time client and friend Tony Bellew, who stepped into the ring for the final time to face the formidable Oleksandr Usyk.
As Z-Cars rang out through the Manchester Arena, the atmosphere was electric — spine-tingling, even — with the vast majority of the crowd backing The Bomber in what was to be the closing chapter of a 20-year career. A shot at becoming the undisputed cruiserweight world champion was the ultimate test.
Tony looked absolutely stunning in his blue camo and velvet custom shorts, taking the early rounds comfortably with slick back-foot boxing. But as the fight wore on, Usyk showed exactly why he’s so highly feared, gradually ramping up the pace in rounds 4 and 5. His powerful left hand eventually found the target, ending the contest in dramatic fashion.
While the result wasn’t what we all hoped for, everyone at Suzi Wong feels immense pride for Tony. He finished his career the way he’s always fought — taking on every challenge, never ducking a fight, and giving it everything. We wish him the very best in retirement and know he’ll look back with pride on a career that defied expectations and inspired fans across the world.
Crolla Marches On
We were also proud to support Anthony Crolla on the undercard. His bout against Daud Yordan was full of action, with Yordan applying relentless pressure throughout. But Anthony, wearing a sharp pair of custom black leather shorts with stud detailing, showed cleaner work and composure under fire to take a well-earned unanimous decision win.
With this victory, Crolla is now mandatory challenger for Vasiliy Lomachenko — arguably the toughest test in world boxing today. If that fight gets made, we’re expecting another huge night, and hopefully, another Manchester main event.
