Creed 2 fever hits Suzi Wong After being involved in supplying boxing shorts and costumes for the first Creed film, we were delighted to be asked to be involved once again in the latest edition of the Rocky franchise. With the UK premiere set for tonight, there’s no better time than to give everyone an insight into our work for the film. Our sole concentration for Creed 2 has been centred round producing another dazzling piece for Michael B Jordan aka Donnie Johnson/Adonis Creed. After defeat to our very own ‘Pretty’ Ricky Conlan (Tony Bellew) in the first instalment, he faces Viktor Drago, the son of his fathers’ old arch enemy, Ivan Drago. We stayed true to the roots of the story and the character Michael plays, with the new design a tribute to the late Apollo Creed and the simplistic American shorts worn when he faced the fearsome Drago in Rocky IV. The basis of the shorts are a red and white striped satin, both front and back. The side panelling is royal blue with 4 white stars either side, which continues to the bottom of each leg, this time with three stars per leg. The design is completed with a royal blue waistband, sporting the names ‘Creed’ and ‘Johnson’. Brought together, it is our modern take on a classic and increasingly popular style. Once again, we have enjoyed working in conjunction with a Hollywood costume department and being given the opportunity to show off our work to a different audience. Jawbone Jawbone In Cinemas May 12th, 2017 Sometimes The Hardest Fight Is With Yourself Jawbone is a UK production from Vertigo Films with an all-star cast including Johnny Harris, Ray Winstone, Michael Smiley and Ian McShane. The film also boasts the input of training legends Shane & Barry McGuigan as the official boxing consultants, plus music by Paul Weller. Boxing Shorts Made by Suzi Wong We are incredibly honoured to have worked with the fantastic production team to create the boxing shorts for the main character in the film Jawbone. Johnny Harris plays the lead in the film, but he also wrote the script, the story tells the tale of an alcoholic ex-contender staging a comeback. Throughout the film we see him face his demons inside, and outside, of the ring. The Suzi Wong design team worked closely with the costume department to create a pair of classic boxing shorts that reflect the stripped back nature of this fantastic British film. The decision was made to create a pair of Classic Black Velvet Boxing Trunks, much like the ones offered here in our online shop. We added some classic cream embroidery to finish off the traditional yet timeless style required to tell the tale of this comeback fighter. How we got involved in the latest Rocky film CREED It was around December 2014 when we first heard about the production of Creed, the next instalment from the Rocky movies. Directed by Ryan Coogler and staring Michael B Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, our very own Tony Bomber Bellew and Andre Ward, this hollywood film was always going to be a hit. We keep in good contact with Tony after making all of his fighting attire since he had his first amateur fight.  It’s always been a great relationship and we were overwhelmed when he insisted on wearing only Suzi Wong ring-wear in the Hollywood movie. I mean how cool is that!? We had a few whatsapp chats with Tony and he asked; ‘would we mind the costume department making contact with us about their ideas on the ring-wear’.  Of course there was no problem at all. Working with a Hollywood costume department We made contact a few days later with the head of the costume department and set about producing some samples from the images they sent over.  They originally wanted to keep the blue theme we are all so used to seeing Tony in with his relationship with Everton. They wanted a slight twist though, a gladiator style skirt, which was kind of funky and Tony liked the idea as well.  We went ahead and make some samples for Tony to take back to USA after he’d spent Christmas with his family in Liverpool. Tony went back to US after New Year and began filming.  The costume department where very pleased with the samples we produced but after some test shots Ryan Coogler, the film’s producer, felt that a black theme would be better for the camera

It was such an honour to be asked to make the fightwear for the new Warner Bros Pictures movie Creed.  Directed by Ryan Coogler featuring Michael B Jordan, legendary Slyvester Stallone and  Tony Bellew.  We made all the fight kit for all the fighters and trainers.  A fantastic experience and opportunity to work with Hollywood movie stars.  We cant wait to release the videos and pictures of all the work we did.
