Working with Sam Maxwell

We always enjoy designing Sam’s fight kits. Sam describes the thought that goes into each new design: “My favourite Suzi Wong kit is my last one. Green with white fur. It was like how I see myself. Simple bold colours but then you look closer and you see the details and the features wanting to stand out. Other than my kits, I love Sunny Edward’s and Zelfa’s.”

Sam Maxwell Interview

Below we catch up with Sam Maxwell about what inspired him to be a fighter and where he sees himself in 5 years:

Where are you from?

I was born in Hackney, East London but moved to Prescot, Liverpool after my dad passed away. I was 8 years old

What’s your Inspiration?

My inspiration in boxing and in life is my mum. The belief my mum had and still has in me drives me on. She’s celebrated with me in my highs and picked me up when I was at my lows. Making her proud was the biggest gift I got from boxing. She is the one who used to make sure I go the gym on them days I didn’t feel like it. She used to even take me and pick me up most days. Even tho the gym was only up the road.

What age did you started boxing?

10.

Amateur Boxing Club?

High side ABC was my first club and I was there 12 years. I then moved to the Solly that’s when my career really took off.

Where you train now?

I now train in mtk Scotland with Danny Vaughan.

Where you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself content with what I’d done in the pro game. Hopefully sitting at home with a lot more belts hanging on my wall.

Favourite Suzi Wong kit?

All my kits have been amazing, each fight I say this is the best then the next one comes and I say no this one is the best haha.

Achievements to date?

I’m the current WBO European Champion.

Favourite fighter?

 Muhammad Ali

AJ or Tyson?

Tough one! I got to go with AJ. Or Fury. Or AJ…

Most Memorable Fight?

My most memorable fight was against Sabri Sediri to win my WBO European title.

Dream Fight?

My dream fight would  be against Vasyl Lomachenko making it a trilogy against him, after our amateur fights.
