Antoine Vanackère Interview
Below we catch up with Antoine Vanackère about what inspired him to be a fighter and where he sees himself in 5 years:
Where you are from?
My main inspiration is my dad and the way he dedicated his life to boxing, I’m also inspired a lot by my coach (who has been through a lot of stuff in his life) and inspired by every single person that was, is or will be my training partners.
What age did you started boxing?
I was born into boxing because my dad was a boxing coach and became a boxing promoter in Belgium. I did my first boxing training ever when I was 6 years old, but I really started training (with the purpose of fighting) when I was 14 .
Amateur Boxing Club?
One 2 One
Where you train now?
I train in Boston, Massachusetts
Where you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself as a world champion, in good health and with a healthy family.
Favourite Suzi Wong kit?
The one I had for my first fight in the US, with a Belgian flag made of glitter.
Achievements to date?
I won 2 Belgian amateurs titles, won a few international tournaments as an amateur (Limerick-Ireland, Hillerod-Denmark , Slovakia) and took part in the 2016 Olympic Qualifiers in Samsun-Turkey. As a pro I won one minor title so far (LFB champion) which is for the French part of Belgium and was schedule to fight for the IBF youth title on the 16th of May but the Coronavirus had other plans.
Tyson or AJ?
AJ, pure class as a fighter and as a human being.
Errol Spence Jr vs Terrence Crawford , and for me any world title fight!
Most memorable fight to date?
AJ vs Klitschko, what a fight!
