Terri Harper Interview
Below we catch up with Terri about what inspired her to be a fighter and where she sees herself in 5 years:
Where are you from?
Inspiration in Boxing?
Katie Taylor, the way she has paved the way for female in the sport and on the big stage, and everything she has achieved, you can only be inspired by her.
What age did you started boxing?
Amateur Boxing Club?
My amateur club was originally called Ernie Oxers School of Boxing, but recently changed its name to St Peters Boxing Club
Where you train now?
Steffy Bulls Pro Boxing Gym in the village of Denaby
Steffy Bull who is also my Manager and Ray Doyle
For myself it would have to be me vs Hanna Gabriels for the world title and my dream fight I would’ve liked to have see would have been Mike McCallum vs Wilfred Benitez at super welterweight in their prime, that would have been a great fight!
Where you see yourself in 5 years?
Still boxing, hopefully undisputed World Champion at Super Featherweight and being crowned World Champion in some of the higher weight divisions.
Favourite Suzi Wong kit?
For myself it was the last kit I fought Eva in for the WBC World Champion. White, Red and gold, in a gladiator style short. It was my first time wearing the gladiator style and I loved it. I also loved Charlie Edwards kit when he made his first defence of his WBC World Title, using the green of the WBC belt and the world flags it looks so classy.
Achievements to date?
As an amateur I won 3 national junior titles, represented England Boxing in the European Youth Championships, winning a silver medal.
As a professional boxer my first title fight was for the WBC International Lightweight Champion, then the IBO Super Featherweight World Champion and I was recently crowned WBC Super Featherweight World Champion.
I was signed by Eddie Hearn in 2019 and Matchroom Boxing, one of the biggest promotional teams in the world.
Right now has to be Katie Taylor, but I really enjoy watching Arturro Gatti fights.
Tyson or AJ?
Much respect to them both. Anthony Joshua came back from a defeat against Ruix and won his belt back after so many wrote him off. Tyson Fury came back after losing all that weight, fighting drug addiction and mental health, dethroning Wilder on US soil!!! Hard to choose between two great heavyweights, but right now I would go with Tyson Fury.
